Dave Gray

Founder, XPLANE

Dave Gray's objective has been and continues to be finding ways to help people improve their ability to build shared understanding, so they can better coordinate joint action on things that matter to them. In 1993, Gray founded XPLANE, the visual thinking company, to help people develop shared understanding, so they can make better, faster decisions, and work better together to create more lasting, sustainable impact. He has written three books on design, change and innovation.

The world is Katie's classroom. Seriously. Earlier this year she gave workshops on three continents in three weeks. Formerly a classroom and STEAM teacher, Katie is a licensed principal and K-12 technology integrator who is passionate about breaking STEM stereotypes. Even though she's based in Pittsburgh, PA as the Professional Development Manager for BirdBrain Technologies, you'll usually find her in a classroom in another time zone.

Derek Ham

Assistant Professor of Graphic Design, North Carolina State College of Design

Derek Ham, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design and Affiliate Assistant Research Professor of Architecture at North Carolina State’s College of Design. His research interests span the areas of game based learning, algorithmic thinking, and digital fabrication/making. He completed his doctoral work in Design Computation from MIT, holds a Master’s in Architecture from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design, and a Bachelor of Architecture from Hampton University. In his research, he continues to investigate both virtual reality (VR) and augmented realty (AR) technology to find ways these tools can expand the way we teach and learn.
